Meghan Markle, aka, the Duchess of Sussex, is something of a trailblazer as a royal. She is on a roll when it comes down to her ‘fashion’ projects. The former actress who is guest editing the September issue of British Vogue is getting back to her former roots with doing something or the other related to fashion. Previously, the Duchess has also attended the British Fashion Awards back in December and we can only hope she keeps up the work!
In the magazine, she has announced that she's launching a capsule collection of workwear to benefit her royal patronage Smart Works, a charity that benefits disadvantaged and unemployed women who are entering or returning to the workforce.
According to a Royal Reporter, Omid Scobie tweeted Meghan’s response, “The collection, launching later this year, will sell on a one-for-one basis.” which means, “For each item purchased by a customer, one is donated to charity.” She also added, “Not only does this allow us to be part of each other’s story, it reminds us we are in it together.”
According to Omid Scobie, Meghan has recruited a set of impressive collaborators for the project with big names like British department stores Marks & Spencer and John Lewis, the brand Jigsaw, and her close friend and fashion designer Misha Nonoo.
Considering the effect Meghan is having, we can only see this collection as a stepping stone to something bigger in the future.
