They do not believe that nudity is necessary for spiritual liberation and instead wear white clothing as a symbol of renunciation. This sect is primarily found in northern India and is known for its strong emphasis on lay practitioners.

Difference between Svetambara and Digambara

Both sects share the same core principles of non-violence, self-control, and the pursuit of spiritual liberation. However, they have different interpretations of some key teachings and practices. For example, Digambaras do not recognize the authority of the Jain scriptures, while Svetambaras do.
