In a dramatic case that shook the nation, "Cult Mom" Lori Vallow has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murders of her two children.
In May, the 50-year-old Vallow was found guilty of the murder of her seven-year-old son, Joshua "JJ" Vallow, and her 16-year-old daughter, Tylee Ryan, who disappeared without a trace in September 2019. She was also found guilty of conspiring to murder her husband Chad Daybell's first wife, Tammy, who passed away in October 2019.
The verdict came after prosecutors assured the jury that Vallow and Mr. Daybell conspired together, along with Vallow's brother, Alex Cox, to carry out the bizarre religious beliefs, resulting in the killings of Tammy, JJ, and Tylee. However, financial motives were also involved, as they aimed to collect Tammy's life insurance money and secure the children's social security and survivor benefits.
Before the sentencing, the court heard emotional statements from several devastated family members, who had been through unimaginable pain in this tragic saga over the past four years.
Surprising many, Vallow showed no remorse for the deaths of her children and Tammy, claiming that they were "busy" and "happy" in heaven.
During the sentencing, she appeared emotionless and detached from the gravity of the situation.
